hi! i'm SO HAPPY YOU'RE HERE!
Prep & Style Guide
I cannot wait to photograph you and your special people! Here's a quick guide that goes over some frequently asked questions.

Rested + Fed
One of my biggest tips is just to make sure that everyone is rested & fed before a session, even Mom & Dad. Ever seen that Oh-Henry commercial? No-one likes to be hangry ha! Feel free to bring a snack for the kids to break up the session a bit. This might be an unpopular opinion - but I think a quick dose of sugar brings out the most genuine smiles and makes for the best photos!
What to bring
i'll bring a cozy blanket and a couple of clear umbrellas - just in case the weather decides to be dramatic. Rainy moments can be magic and we'll be totally prepared!
Touch up items (lipstick, powder, brush)
Snacks + water for the kids
Toys or plushies
Anything special you might want photographed
Why I'll ALWAYS vote for golden hour
Lighting plays a huge role in how your final images turn out. Midday tends to be harsh (which can totally be vibe, think editorial or hi8gh fashion). It can sometimes create hash shadows and squinting (which is not fun for the kids).
Golden hour offers a softer, natural look. The light wraps around you, creating those dreamy tones you will often see throughout my work.
But.... Dinner time? Is it really worth it?
I promise - YES.
That slightly later time is where the magic lives. It's when the light softens, glows, the harsh shadows disappear and everything takes on that dreamy tone.
I know it can feel a bit chaotic with kids, routines and bedtime creeping in. But I aim to keep things playful and go with the flow. Most of my sessions end up feeling like a late night at the park than a photoshoot.
And the payoff?
Those warm, golden, connected images that feel like real memories, not stiff, rushed, posed images.
Heck you know what? Bring the bribes
If your session falls over dinnertime, I always recommend doing an early dinner beforehand and then bringing some easy low mess snacks (crackers, puffs, fruit snacks)
-Pro note- I've even had parents bring ice cream treats in a cooler for the end of the session!
What if my kids don't want to cooperate?
First things first, This is completely normal, seriously.
I promise you are not the only one worried about it, and your kids are not the "hard ones".
Kiddos definitely don't show up to a session thinking "I'm going to smile nicely for 30 whole minutes." They show up with big feelings, shyness or sometimes excitement - their own little personalities and that is absolutely where the magic lives.
My sessions are built around connection over perfection.
I'm not expecting kiddos to sit still or "behave" the whole time - and neither should you. So instead of repeating "smile".
Instead, I gently guide, play, connect with them and follow their lead to capture those genuine moments. The snuggles, the giggles, the chaos and everything in-between 🫶
What to wear
Be Comfy & Think Neutrals
I always recommend mom to choose her outfit first and then build the rest of the family's wardrobe from there. Coordinate- don't match and stick to something you feel comfortable and confident in.
Neutrals are almost always flattering and timeless. Think black, white, beige and shades of browns. Dress for the occasion and the season, mixing different fabrics and texture. Something with movement is always flattering in photos.
Keep patterns simple and minimal. Patterns and writing can be fun, but they can often turn into focal points in images.
