hi! i'm SO HAPPY YOU'RE HERE!
Prep & Style Guide
CONGRATULATIONS ON YOUR ENGAGEMENT!
I cannot wait to photograph you and your person! Here's a quick guide that goes over some frequently asked questions.
Trust The Process
You don't need to know how to pose. I'll gently guide you the entire time while also intentionally leaving space for natural moments and connection.
MOVEMENT > STANDING STILL
I use a ton of movement and prompting in my workflow. Think, walking, swaying talking, forehead touches. Sometimes I'll even show you inspo on my phone.
Sessions can start out feeling a bit awkward for the first 15ish minutes and thats totally normal! I find people really warm up towards the middle of the session.
You don't need to be overly affectionate or "perform" for the camera . The best moments usually come from simply being close talking, laughing and interacting naturally.
MAKE IT A DATE NIGHT ✨
Think of your session as a little date night together. Plan to grab a late dinner afterward, plan for a slow evening, give yourselves time to actually enjoy the experience. Feel free to bring a couple of your favourite drinks (bubbly, brews, coffee or snacks. Share a drink and take in the sunset together.
Rested + Fed. Ever seen that Oh-Henry commercial? No one likes to be hangry! Seriously, have a quick snack before your session!
What to bring
I'll bring a cozy blanket and a couple of clear umbrellas - just in case the weather decides to be dramatic. Rainy moments can be magic and we'll be totally prepared!
Touch up items (lipstick, powder, brush)
Anything special you might want photographed
What to wear?
The best outfits are the ones YOU FEEL comfy in!
Comfortable, Connected + a bit elevated from every day life.
Dress for the occasion and the season, mixing different fabrics and textures. Something with movement is always flattering in photos. Feel free to pop some accessories in a bag and bring them with you to your session - hat, jacket etc.
Quick tips:
- Neutrals + earthy tones photograph beautifully and are timeless +classic
- Movement is flattering (think flowy dresses, layers + texture)
- Comfort matters!
- coordinating > matching
What to skip
- Avoid logos
- Avoid neons
- Busy patterns
WHEN IN DOUBT:
Wear your favourite jeans and a tee you feel amazing in 🫶
Seriously - confidence and comfort photograph better than any trendy outfit! Accessories can make a huge difference, a cute necklace, layered jewelry and some Blundstone/Chelsea style boots can instantly elevate a simple outfit.
(and, if possible.. maybe sip the bright runners/new balances - chucks and vans are always welcome here ✨✨)
At the end of the day, the best outfit is the one that feels most you, if none of these suggestions fit your vibe - wear what you love and makes you feel good There's no strict rules here. Your connections matters more than any outfit!
Why I'll ALWAYS vote for golden hour
Lighting plays a huge role in how your final images turn out. Midday tends to be harsh (which can totally be vibe, think editorial or high fashion). BUT, it can sometimes create hash shadows and squinting.
Golden hour offers a softer, natural look. The light wraps around you, creating those dreamy tones you will often see throughout my work.
That slightly later time is where the magic lives. It's when the light softens, glows, the harsh shadows disappear and everything takes on that dreamy tone.
